I've heard of acceleration before - such as registry tweaking or cacheing of web pages. Is that what this is?
Absolutely not. QUICKNETUSA Accelerator is not another utility that adjusts Windows registry settings for optimal network performance. Neither is it web cacheing technology. QUICKNETUSA Accelerator is TRUE SPEED. It uses a truly unique method of compressing the data you request before it is sent over the phone lines to your computer.
How does this acceleration application work?
As you request pages from the web or email from your mail server, the data is first routed to a compression server where it is quickly and automatically reduced in size. Once compressed, a lot more data can be sent over traditional wired (and wireless) telephone lines. When the information is received at your computer, it is automatically decompressed. Web pages and email messages appear as normal in either your web browser or email application. If you're familiar with the concept of Zip compressed files, this is a good way to explain what is going on. However the zipping and unzipping process is behind the scenes and requires nothing of you to view web pages or email. Just to be clear, the proprietary compression used with QUICKNETUSA Accelerator is even better than the standard Zip format, which means SUPERIOR acceleration.
How will I connect to your compression servers?
When you dial into QUICKNETUSA, you will still connect to the Internet as you normally do. Once connected, you will access QUICKNETUSA Accelerator compression servers directly. When you access the QUICKNETUSA compression servers, you will need to have a valid User ID and Password. This is selected during the sign up process prior to downloading QUICKNETUSA Accelerator client software.
What are my computer requirements for this application to work?
Best results achieved with these minimum requirements:
- Pentium II-266 processor or higher with 48 MB RAM (will work with Pentium 133+ processor and 32+ MB RAM)
- Windows 95b, Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows NT 4, or Windows XP
- Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher (currently does not work with any Netscape browser)
- Any version of Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express
- Telephone based dial-up Internet Service through QUICKNETUSA
Will this application work on Macintosh/Apple or other operating systems?
Not at this time. Currently, only the Microsoft operating systems are supported.
Will I need a user name and password to receive this acceleration service?
Yes. During the sign-up process, you will be prompted for a user ID and password. This will be necessary when installing and using the QUICKNETUSA Accelerator to connect to the compression servers. This information will only need to be entered one time. You can opt to save this information to prevent the need to re-enter it in the future.
Can I use this program in a networked environment?
QUICKNETUSA Accelerator was designed to be used in an environment where access to the Internet is achieved via a telephone dial-up connection (not a high speed LAN). If you currently use Microsoft's modem sharing in a simple home networked environment, simply install QUICKNETUSA Accelerator on each computer that you want to achieve internet acceleration. Currently, this application is not designed to work in a network environment which relies on a HTTP Proxy. However, standard Windows modem sharing should allow it to function normally.
Will the QUICKNETUSA Accelerator speed up the downloading of FTP files or NNTP newsgroups?
The QUICKNETUSA Accelerator currently only accelerates HTML (web pages), JPG/GIF/PNG (graphics), and SMTP/POP3 (Email). FTP, NNTP and various other types of Internet protocols are not supported at this time. However, we hope to include support for them in future releases of the product.
Where can I go to see a list of known issues or problems with the QUICKNETUSA Accelerator?

What if I don't want to continue to evaluate this application or choose not to continue with the acceleration service?
